About The Instructor: Pamela Paulsrud is a visual artist who is recognized internationally as a papermaker, calligrapher, book artist and collaborator creating both intimate pieces and large-scale installations. Her exploration in energy and vibration, letters and lines, her love of the land, the earth and it’s resonance, inspires both her work and her life. She also continues her research and practice in energetic healing modalities—which simultaneously informs her art. She has received her MFA from Columbia College Chicago in Interdisciplinary Arts concentrating in Book and Paper. Pamela’s work has been published in several magazines, books, and journals. Her work is in many private collections as well as the University of California, San Diego, the Allan Chasanoff Bookworks Collection, NYC, and Yale University Art Museum to name only a few.

About The Class: In this class students will investigate & incorporate the underpinnings of the hidden laws of nature- sacred geometry - exploring these forms and synthesizing the linear with the artistic aspect ofpattern and beauty. Step by step, students will design a template from which to springboard to create a portfolio of their own unique expression. Music, meditation, sound and silence will accompany students as they wend their way through a series of exercises exploring the tempo and voice of their unique line—story, script, gesture and mark—developing flow—letting go of the familiar long enough to greet the unexpected.

Rosie's workshops are designed to implement creative ways of encountering the soul’s inner journey through art. In these experiential and innovative workshops—painting, poetry, creative writing and collage are explored. Other components, such as music, meditation and sharing are fashioned to enhance the creative process. Introspective and art making play significant roles in connecting to one's essence.
The spirituality and art workshops and retreats are adapted according to individual groups and length of days. Participants leave, not only with a creative project, but a renewed and deeper sense of well-being through the healing power of art.

In this workshop we will make a pocket size portfolio with a bead closure that will contain a concertina book with a fold-up edge for ephemeral and text messages. Rosie will guide you through some creative ways to capture your artistic and illustrious signature. With the use of nibs, brushes, markers, and some unorthodox tools, which the instructor will provide, you will create your own mark along with texture, paint and collage. Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks. Plutarch
In this innovative workshop we will make a 16-page art journal from a single sheet of watercolor paper. While exploring exercises in creative writing we will find words to enhance and personalize your journal as we decorate the pages with texture, paint and collage. With the use of brushes, nibs, graphite, and unorthodox tools, which the instructor will provide, your journal will become your own personal signature.
